About the Speaker

Benjamin is a patent attorney with the firm of Ridout & Maybee LLP, where he practices intellectual property law.  At Ridout & Maybee, Mr. Mak works in assisting SMEs (small to mid-size enterprises), multinationals, hospitals, universities, individual inventors, and technology companies in garnering patent protection for their inventions.  Prior to his law career, Benjamin researched at a Toronto area hospital in medical imaging.  He remains active in the medical device community as the Toronto chapter chair of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society.  Benjamin obtained his B.A.Sc. in Engineering Science (biomedical-electrical) from the University of Toronto and obtained his LL.B from the University of Western Ontario.
